"Excuse Me, I'm Trying to Read!, is a charming book children, will ask to read over and over again. The simple yet engaging text and delightful illustrations are just perfect for younger children. The repeated text makes it easy for emerging readers to practice their newly acquired reading skills. The cute phrase of `Excuse Me' allows children the chance to easily include drama in their oral reading. I'm a teacher and used the book with both my second and fourth grade students. The second graders enjoyed writing and illustrating their own pages using the format of the author and including their favorite animals. Fourth graders enjoyed replicating the style of the book and exploring their own themes, such as `Excuse Me, I'm trying to Do My Homework.'
